Unique and Exciting: Bonsai Japanese Steakhouse

Located on Lakeland Drive in Jackson, Bonsai Japanese Steakhouse has been serving the metro area for several years and is central Mississippi’s unique and exciting Japanese restaurant. Bonsai introduces the newest and latest in sushi trends, and their menu is filled with traditional and modern Japanese dishes, as well as hibachi. No matter what you’re in the mood for, Bonsai has something to satisfy everyone.

If you’re headed to Bonsai for dinner and want the full experience, start your meal off with an appetizer. Choose from dishes like a Squid Salad, Jalapeno Bombs, Sashimi Appetizer, or customer favorites like Wontons, Edamame, and Shrimp Tempura.

If you came for a hibachi dinner, you’re in luck. With over 20 hibachi options, there’s something for everyone at the grill. Guests can even opt for the bowl options of several dishes, which is the same great hibachi meal, just a smaller portion. Choose from Hibachi Chicken, Teppanyaki Chicken, Scallops, Sirloin, Filet and Lobster, Steak and Shrimp, and any combination you can think of. All hibachi entrees are served with dashi soup, house sale, grilled vegetables, and either steamed rice, fried rice, or hibachi noodles.

Not only is the hibachi menu extensive, but so is the sushi menu. Choose from classic rolls like a Snow Crab Roll, Salmon Tempura Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and California Roll. Specialty Rolls include rolls like the Dragon Roll, which is barbecued eel on top of a California roll with eel sauce; Bonsai Roll, a spicy, crunchy yellowtail roll with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and spicy mayo on top; the Mardi Gras Roll, a crawfish roll with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and spicy mayo; and the Wow Roll filled with salmon, cream cheese, avocado, and snow crab, all fried with spicy mayo and eel sauce on top. Customer favorites include the Dynamite Roll, Louisiana Roll, Dancing Roll, Panda Roll, and the Tiger Roll, filled with tuna, salmon, BBQ eel on top of a spicy tuna roll with eel sauce, spicy mayo, masago, and crunchy on top. If you’re a sushi fanatic, your next sushi of sashimi craving is sure to be cured at Bonsai.

Along with hibachi dinners and platters of sushi, Bonsai also has a Kitchen section of the menu that includes classic dishes like Filet of Salmon with curry fried rice and veggies, Chicken Teriyaki with grilled veggies, Seafood Teriyaki, and Chicken Katsu. You can even build your own bento box with different meats, rolls, and side items.

If you find yourself near Bonsai during lunchtime, they also offer a lunch menu with kitchen entrees, hibachi entrees, and sushi entrees to fill you up till dinner time. You can also build your bento at lunch, too, and they are perfect for sharing. If you have the kiddos with you at either meal, the kid’s menu offers Hibachi Chicken, Shrimp, Steak, Scallops, and even a kid’s bento box where they can choose their favorite items. Next time you and your friends or family are in the mood for Japanese food, make a point to head to Lakeland Drive for Bonsai. There’s a reason they’ve stuck around for so many years, and that reason is why they don’t plan on quitting anytime soon.
